Arnold Milton Krause, age 85, a resident of Clinton Township, Michigan since 1954 died on October 4, 2012 at Lakepointe Villa Senior Care & Rehab in Clinton Twp. He was born on August 21, 1927 in Detroit to the late Charles and Jane (nee Mason) Krause. On February 15, 1947 in Detroit he was united in marriage to the former Beatrice E. Thompson. Together they celebrated 56 years of marriage. She preceded him in death on March 18, 2003.
Born and raised in Detroit, Mr. Krause worked at his father’s business as a teenager, The Krause Coal Company. During the height of World War II, he decided to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Marines. After returning home after the war, he worked as a milkman for Sealtest Milk Co. driving his own route on the Eastside of Detroit. In 1954, he and Beatrice moved to Clinton Twp. and became charter members at the American Lutheran Church, where he is still a member today. He later started a career at the Mt. Clemens Post Office. He retired in 1989 after 25 years as a mailman.
Mr. Krause was a true outdoorsman who enjoyed deer and duck hunting with his sons and grandsons. As an active member at the church, he often served as a greeter, assisted in counting donations, volunteered his time with the MCREST program, and delivered care packages to local parishioners. He was also a member of the American Legion Post # 4.
He is survived by three children; Charles Krause of Linwood, MI, Daniel (Mary) Krause of Clinton Twp., Martha (Winfield) Wallace of Belgrade, Montana, daughter-in-law Linda “Gayle” Krause, 12 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he was also predeceased by his son Arnold Krause, grandson Thomas, and five brothers; Elmer, Carl, Bill, Edgar, and John Krause.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 11:00a.m. (instate 10:30a.m.) at the American Lutheran Church, 38795 Mulberry, Clinton Twp, with the Rev. Becky Bolander officiating. Visitation will be held in the Harold W. Vick Funeral Home, 140 South Main Street, Mt. Clemens on Friday, October 12, 2012 from 1:30p.m. until 8:00p.m. Burial will be in Cadillac Memorial Gardens Cemetery East, Clinton Twp.
